Arsenal to revive interest in Man City ‘diver’ Raheem Sterling in January transfer window

The Citizens will look to lure away Alexis Sanchez once again in the winter transfer window, with Arsene Wenger keen on potential swap deal

ARSENE WENGER will push for a potential swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Raheem Sterling in January, according to reports.

Arsenal were keen on bringing the Citizens winger to the Emirates in the summer, and they will revive their interest in the winter transfer window.

City boss Pep Guardiola refused to give away the ex-Liverpool star back in August, with the 22-year-old enjoying his best start to a season after netting ten times in 15 games.

According to the Daily Mail, the current Premier League leaders will go back in for Sanchez, but will only leave should Sterling be included in any deal.

The news will come as a shock to fans after Wenger brandished Sterling as a 'diver' after he won a penalty against Nacho Monreal in City's recent 3-1 win against Arsenal.

And the Frenchman looks to have changed his tune as the prospect of losing Sanchez on a free transfer edges ever-closer.

But his post-match comments infuriated City, and it remains unlikely they will allow the £49million man to move on.

SunSport reported on Sunday that the Eastlands outfit were ready to offer Sterling a new £200,000-a-week deal.

His current contract expires in the summer of 2020 and CEO Ferran Soriano and Sporting Director Tixiki Begiristain are keen to tie him down after wrapping up deals for David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

Sterling is in joint second-place for goals in the Premier League this season with seven strikes, and revealed last month that he never thought about joining Arsenal.

Sanchez has netted just once this campaign in the top-flight.

Is this a penalty for Manchester City's Raheem Sterling or a harsh call on Arsenal's Nacho Monreal?
