Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal blow as Leverkusen chief dismisses ‘insane’ Leon Bailey transfer talk

LEON BAILEY is going nowhere, according to Bayer Leverkusen director Jonas Boldt.

He has labelled speculation linking the winger to Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal as "insane."

The 20-year-old winger, rated at £35million, has attracted interest from the Premier League big guns.

But it looks as though he's staying put for the time being at least.

Boldt spoke to Kicker about the player signed from Genk last January for £18million:

"Well now the time starts again when there is some insane [transfer] talk," he said.

"There is no offer for Leon. We have absolutely no thought of selling him. He has a contract until 2022 - and we are on the driver's seat."

Jamaica Under-23 international Bailey, a friend of speed merchant Usain Bolt, has scored six goals and set up a further four in just 14 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Having moved from Belgium halfway through last season, Bailey struggled to make an impact early on at the BayArena.

But Boldt is happy to see such a quick improvement in a lad who has quickly become a huge crowd favourite.

"His start at Leverkusen was not easy, he was still impressed with the hype that was being made about him in Belgium and made some mistakes," he added.

"Today we see a boy who has learned from his behaviour and is fully integrated into the team."

Leverkusen are lying fourth in the Bundesliga, level with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

They are third-highest goalscorers and are also one of only two teams still unbeaten at home, Bayern Munich being the other.

Bailey's second half strike sealed Bayer's place in the DFB Cup quarter-final at the expense of Borussia Monchengladbach.
